Tumbled Chrysocolla in Quartz
 |
Treasure Bags! Velour pouches for storing
stones or giving them as gifts. | |
Chrysocolla is a vivid blue to blue-green copper mineral that often occurs as inclusions and veins through
quartz or chalcedony. Chrysocolla itself is not well suited as a gemstone as it is often brittle and has a
hardness of just 2 to 4 on the Mohs scale. However, when combined with quartz or chalcedony, the resulting
rock can be hard enough and durable enough for use as a gemstone. Polished specimens frequently display
beautiful patterns of blue-green veins, swirls and bands.
Our chrysocolla in quartz can be purchased in 4 ounce (113 gram), 8 ounce (226 gram) and one pound (453 gram)
bags. The picture above shows the contents representative of a 4 ounce (113 gram) bag. Your stones will be
similar in size, shape and color to the stones pictured above. They are perfect for a variety of jewelry
and craft projects - or simply to admire.
Chrysocolla in quartz is often cut into beads and cabochons. Less often it is made in to small sculptures and carvings. In the United States
chrysocolla is often found near the copper-producing areas of Arizona and Nevada. Other world sources include:
Zaire, Russia, Chile and Mexico.
Warning: Polished stones can be a choking hazard for small children. |
